GRAINGER APPLEYARD SOLICITORS PLEDGED TO OFFER CANCER RESEARCH UK’S FREE WILL SERVICE
Grainger Appleyard Solicitors have pledged to join forces with Cancer Research UK to help highlight the power of gifts in Wills in saving lives.
The firm will now provide the charity’s Free Will Service, where trained solicitors will offer free support to people aged over 18 who wish to write or update their Will.
This includes giving guidance to people considering leaving a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK.
Gifts in Wills fund over a third of the charity's life-saving research. Without them, Cancer Research UK would not be able to undertake the vital research that will one day beat cancer for patients in Doncaster and accross the UK.
Research has come a long way, but cannot rest while people still suffer, That's why Cancer Research UK is committed to ensuring 3 in 4 people diagnosed with this disease will survive for 10 years or more in 2034.
One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
At Grainger Appleyard Solicitors many of us have friends or family who have been affected by this devastating disease, so we are proud to offer this important free service. Together with clients' pledges and ours, we will beat cancer for future generations.
A legacy gift can be anything someone wishes to leave in their Will. Traditionally this is money, but it could be anything that has a monetary value such as an estate or specific item.
Gifts in Wills fund science, leading to discoveries which cannot be unmade and progress which cannot be undone. Each breakthrough inspires the next until the day comes when nobody loses a loved one to cancer.
Sam Devlin, Director of Legacies at Cancer Research UK, said:
“We all reach a stage at some point in our lives where we start to look ahead and consider what will happen to our financial affairs in the future, when we may no longer be around.
“So we’re pleased to be able to offer our Free Will Service to people in Doncaster and work with Grainger Appleyard Solicitors Limited to help people make an all-important first Will or update an existing one.
“The service is provided without obligation, but many people choose to leave a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK and we are extremely grateful for their support. Their generosity is helping to accelerate research to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease and save more lives. Together, we will beat cancer for future generations.”
Together with their supporters, Cancer Research UK has played a role in developing 8 out the world's top 10 cancer drugs; helped prove the link between tabacco and cancer, preventing millions of deaths worldwide; and were a key plater in the development of radiotherapy, which benefits more than 130,000 patients every year in the UK.
The charity’s Free Will Service has been running successfully for over 20 years across a network of solicitors nationwide. People using the service are asked to consider leaving a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK but are under no obligation to do so.
